Beauty Testing - Lips
Make up and idea by Christina Venga. We had a plan, a time and after much casting found TerriAnn. Great skin, nice clear eyes and most importantly able to keep still for me.
The only drama of the day was when the (huge amount of) lip gloss started to slide off in the heat of the lights.

Why flowers ?
I had some time to kill in the studio before a late afternoon shoot so decided to try my hand at flowers.
Much more tricky than I had imagined. Lots of tiny adjustments, tweaking and prodding. Nothing is spontaneous or just happens. Kind of the opposite of what I am used to but good practice non the less and really gets you looking.

Red Trouble
Another day in the studio, another MUA and new models. Or rather model.
I should have been shooting two redheads. One in the morning (9:30 onwards) and the other from about midday. Fate however had other plans.
I started getting text messages from about 8am from model number 1, ill cat, trip to the vets, train problems, almost getting on the metro, etc...
In the end she turned up looking scruffy, dead behind the eyes and three and a half hours late. This was a new record. Meredith on the other hand was 'only' about an hour late after getting very lost, but suitably apologetic (this goes a long way in my book) and ready to work.
After a late start we got some good shots in, set off a car alarm outside and managed to use up half a roll of gaffer tape getting a tuxedo jacket to fit.

First October Test
The month of October is going to be given over to testing. A good chance to try new things, different lights, settings and (rather dull) work-flow methods.
So without further ado, time to introduce the team - Bintou, Barbara and Nicole.
The setup for the day was actually very straight forward. We were in studio C at 3rd Ward (more on them at a later date) so lots of space and lots of white to fill. Very simple two light set-up. Huge octobox as key light and fill by reflection. Also trying absorption, by placing large black boards either side of the body in the close shots. Looks great on dark skin.
The good news is that the studio is warm enough to run around bare foot, just about enough power sockets and a good coffee place nearby. The bad news... well nothing yet.
The best are being retouched right now, in house !

Greetings and Salutations
Firstly, welcome to Christie Images Blog inaugural entry. This takes over from Gringo Travels as I am more permanently setup in New York. Still a gringo but not on the road.
